Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides I have to admit that I had put off reading this book for a long time. I just didn't get the appeal. So glad that I finally plucked it off my shelves.

It was love at the first sentence - how can you not be drawn into a story that begins with being born twice.

The voice of Callie/Cal is witty, insightful, charming and just so easy to read. Eugenides has that rare ability to use words in ways that are unexpected but make wonderful sense.
